LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech head women's basketball coach Kristy Curry has announced a new addition to her staff as Kristin Drabyn has been hired as the program's graduate assistant.
Drabyn, a native of Avon, Ind., will help with the daily operations of the women's basketball program, while also assisting with video, the managers and practice players.
"Kristin is a bright young star in our business and we are very excited to have her part of our staff," said Curry. "She brings a wealth of knowledge having been raised in a coaching family and playing at the Division I level. I know she is eager to share her knowledge and experiences with our team."
Drabyn comes to Tech after a stellar career at UMBC. While at UMBC, she was a 2008 all-conference selection and an America East Women's Sportsmanship Award winner. She was a 2008 team co-captain and was president of the SAAC (Student Athlete Advisory Committee). Her team was America East champions in 2007 and made the NCAA Championship. Drabyn finished her career at UMBC as the all-time leader in career three-point field goals made and in free throw percentage.
Drabyn graduated from UMBC in May 2008 with a degree in exercise physiology and communications. She is currently working on her master's degree in exercise and sports science at Texas Tech.
