Tech Soccer Players Report For 2008 Season

LUBBOCK, Texas - The 2008 Texas Tech soccer season officially began Tuesday afternoon as all 28 Red Raiders reported for a team meeting held at the Marsha Sharp Center for Student-Athletes. The team begins two-a-day practices Wednesday morning at 6 a.m.
As part of its meeting, the team met with members of the compliance, academics and athletic training departments to complete all necessary paperwork.
Because of ongoing summer classes, the Red Raiders will practice at 6 a.m. Wednesday morning and 7:30 p.m. that night. The team will only practice at 7 p.m. on Thursday. All other practices will normally begin at 8:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. unless otherwise stated.
Tech is coming off one of its most successful season's in program history in 2007, advancing to the Big 12 Championship for the first time since 1999, while matching the school record in most conference wins with five.
The Red Raiders will host two scrimmages in preparation for its August 22 season opener against Lamar, Aug. 14 versus West Texas A&M and Aug. 16 against North Texas. All practices and matches are open to the media and public and will be held at Tech's new soccer facility located off the Texas Tech Parkway near University Medical Center.
