LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's basketball program is excited to announce the 2009 Greek Challenge. The challenge is a friendly attendance contest between all Texas Tech Greek organizations.
All Greek organizations are encouraged to participate as groups in support of the Lady Raiders at two very exciting games. The two games are Wed., Jan. 21, versus Kansas State at 7 p.m., and Sat., Jan. 31, against Oklahoma State at 1 p.m.
The first 500 students at the Oklahoma State game will receive a free Lady Raider mug, and the best spirit sign in the student section will win $100 in gift certificates from local merchants.
The winning Greek organization will win their choice of a 50-inch flat screen television for their lodge or a catered meal for their entire Greek organization.
"The students add so much to our game day environment," said head coach Kristy Curry. "We need everyone to be loud and help us defend our home court."
All Greeks are encouraged to bring friends to both of the games and friends will be able to sign in and be counted as part of the group they are attending with.
Registration sign-in will be at the student entrance and Texas Tech athletics will tally the attendance totals for both games combined to get the grand total for the winning organization.
Winner of the challenge will be announced at "Greek Night" during the Texas A&M game on Feb. 11, which starts at 7 p.m.
Doors to the United Spirit Arena open one and half hours prior to tip-off.
