UTSA Roadrunner Next Stop for Texas Tech Golf

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's golf team will head to San Antonio to compete at the University of Texas-San Antonio Roadrunner Intercollegiate at Oak Hills Country Club on Feb. 16-17.
The Red Raiders jumped two spots to No. 15 in the latest Golfweek men's collegiate rankings after finishing the UH-Hilo Intercollegiate last week in eighth place with a three-day total of 876. The men were just four shots out of fourth place and tied with No. 5 Stanford (872). Garrett Merrell, currently ranked No. 21 in the country, led the Red Raiders with rounds of 70-70-76 for an even-par 216. He finished in a 12th-place tie.
Merrell leads the team with a 72.5 stroke average this season and will be joined in the lineup by Nils Floren (73.6), Santiago Rivas (74.2), Chris Ward (74.5) and Will Griffin (74.8). Sergio Franky (77.3) will play as an individual.
The Red Raiders headline the event as the highest-ranked program, followed by No. 66 UT-Arlington, No. 67 Mississippi State and No. 86 Oklahoma.
