February 25, 2009 | Baseball
- Texas Tech now leads the all-time series against New Mexico 57-34-1 and snapped a two-game losing skid against the Lobos.
- Texas Tech concludes its season-opening six-game home stand with a 5-1 record and will begin an 11-day road trip to California starting on Thursday. The Red Raiders will face Cal-State Northridge beginning on Friday afternoon to kick off the week.
- Freshman third baseman Justin Berry had a stellar day defensively for the Red Raiders as he logged a season-high 10 assists along with one putout. - Freshman designated hitter Scott LeJeune became the first player other than Chris Richburg to hit a home run this season as he blasted a solo job in the bottom of the third inning.
- Sophomore LHP Robbie Kilcrease turned in a career-long six innings of work and earned just the third win of his career this afternoon by holding the Lobos to just two runs on four hits along with four walks.
- Redshirt freshman Brennan Stewart made his first career appearance on the mound as he came in relief of Kilcrease in the seventh. Stewart allowed one run on two hits and picked up one strikeout.
