- Texas Tech now leads the all-time series against the Matadors 4-3 after today's 8-4 win by Cal-State Northridge.
- Texas Tech began a three-game series at Matador Diamond this afternoon against Cal-State Northridge and it marked the first three-game, non-conference series on the road for the Red Raiders since the 2003 season when Tech faced the TCU Horned Frogs in a three-game set in Fort Worth.
- Junior center fielder Taylor Ashby hit his first home run of the season in the fourth inning and the dinger marked just the fourth of his career. Ashby's last home run came against Northern Illinois on March 8, 2008, at Bobcat Field in San Marcos, Texas.
- Taylor Ashby, Scott LeJeune and Joey Kenworthy all extended their current hit streaks to five games each.
- Tech tied its season high with three errors on the afternoon. Tech previously had three defensive miscues on Tuesday that led to a 13-10 loss at home to New Mexico.
