- Cal-State Northridge now leads the all-times series 5-4.
- Junior shortstop Joey Kenworthy had his 63-game starting streak snapped this afternoon as head coach Dan Spencer elected to go with freshman Justin Berry. Kenworthy got a pinch hit single when he came into the game in the top of the seventh inning.
- Sophomore left-hander Austin Quick made his first appearance of the season in the bottom of the fifth but was pulled after walking Richard Cates.
- The last time Texas Tech was involved in a scoreless game after five complete innings was back on Feb. 25, 2007, against the Northern Illinois Huskies. Tech ended up victorious in that game 4-1.
- Freshman designated hitter Scott LeJeune picked up a two-out single in the top of the eighth to extend his team-leading hit streak to seven games.
- Today's loss marked the second by the Red Raiders when leading after the seventh inning.
