- Texas Tech now leads the all-time series against Gonzaga 1-0 after the first meeting between the two schools this morning in the Palm Springs Invitataional.
- Texas Tech put an end to its six-game losing skid and now stands at 6-7 on the season.
- Senior right-hander AJ Ramos now has 13 shutout innings in three starts and has struckout 18 batters while walking just two.
- Sophomore catcher Jeremy Mayo earned his first multiple-hit game of the season as he went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. He also hit his first home run of the season and just the second of his career. His only other home run came last season against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on April 2.
- Sophomore right-hander Chad Bettis, in his new role as a reliever, logged three innings to pick up his first career save. Bettis allowed just one run on five hits and struckout one.
- Texas Tech did not walk a single Gonzaga hitter this morning and that marked a first by a Tech pitching staff since March 9, 2008, against Northern Illinois.
- Junior shortstop Joey Kenworthy picked up his third, three-hit game in the last four contests as he went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
- Tech's single run in the fourth snapped an 11-inning scoreless streak for the Red Raiders dating back to Friday's 2-1 loss to San Francisco.
