Seals, Mallard Receive Big 12 Honors

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech senior Dominic Seals was selected second team All-Big 12, while freshman Kierra Mallard was named to the Big 12 All-Freshman team, which was voted on by the conference coaches and announced by the league office today.
Seals, a 6-2 forward from Dallas, Texas, has played in all 30 games with 29 starts for the Lady Raiders and is averaging a team-best 13.5 points per game and is second in rebounding at 7.7 boards per outing. This is the second-straight year Seals has been named second team All-Big 12.
One of the league's top freshman, Mallard, a 6-3 forward/center from Dallas, Texas, leads Tech in rebounding at 8.0 rebounds per contest and is third on the team in scoring at 9.8 points per game having played in all 30 games with 22 starts. Mallard leads all freshmen in the Big 12 in scoring and rebounding, and is second in blocked shots for all games this season. Mallard and Seals both have a team-high 35 blocks.
The Lady Raiders head to the Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Championship this week as the No. 7 seed and face No. 10 seed Oklahoma State in the first round on Thurs., March 12, at 7:30 p.m., at the COX Convention Center in Oklahoma City, Okla.
