Tech Soccer Ends Spring with 4-4 Tie at TCU

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech soccer team ended its spring season with a strong offensive showing in a 4-4 tie Saturday with TCU at Garvey-Rosenthal Stadium.
Tech began the match down early as TCU began the match with two quick first-half goals. The Red Raiders rallied to end the period, though, as Maegan Wilber made the score 2-1 after heading in a Casey McCall header.
Conner Williams tied the match quickly after halftime, firing from long range from a Brittney Harrison pass for her first goal on the collegiate level. Harrison gave Tech a brief lead a few minutes later, beating the TCU goalkeeper off a Taylor Lytle slip pass to give Tech a 3-2 advantage.
TCU rebounded and netted two quick goals, however, taking a 4-3 lead with five minutes to play. After moving its entire formation forward, the Red Raiders tied the match for good with 27 seconds remaining when Dawn Ward found Williams at the six-yard box for her second goal of the day.
"The spring season is a time to develop the team for the fall and really get a chance to evaluate players for the selection to next year's squad," Tech head coach Tom Stone said. "These games have served us well in both categories. Last night we saw some very good things all around, and I am excited about the impact from some of our freshmen, who tallied two goals and three assists. We are not pleased with the four goals surrendered. We clearly have some work to do in that area, but TCU did a nice job in the final-third against us. We will watch some film and learn from it. That is what the spring is all about."
With the tie, Tech ends the spring 4-0-2, marking the second-consecutive spring that the Red Raiders failed to drop a match.
