- Texas Tech now leads the all-time series 24-14-1 and owns a two-game win streak over the Wildcats dating back to the final game of the series last season at Dan Law Field.
- Texas Tech fired its first shutout since a 10-0 win over New Mexico on April 8, 2008. Tech's last shutout win in the Big 12 Conference was against the other team from Kansas as the Red Raiders beat the Jayhawks 1-0 at Dan Law Field on April 20, 2007.
- Tonight's win is Tech's ninth over a ranked opponent and its third over a team ranked in the Top 10.
- Tonight's win is Tech's first road win against a Big 12 opponent on a Friday since defeating Texas A&M 11-5 on March 24, 2006.
- Junior left fielder Michael Reed set a new career-high with four runs scored and also added a career-best two doubles. He finished the night 3-for-4.
- Freshman designated hitter Scott LeJeune had his season-high 10 game hit streak come to an end as he went 0-for-5 with a strikeout. Joey Kenworthy went 2-for-5 to extend his team-leading hit streak to eight games.
