MANHATTAN, Kan. - The midweek series scheduled for May 12-13 at Dan Law Field between Texas Tech and Mississippi State has been cancelled.
Mississippi Valley State officials contacted Texas Tech on Friday afternoon of their decision. Texas Tech had guaranteed all financial responsibility for the team and travel party for the Delta Devils but Mississippi Valley State decided to not make the trip to Lubbock.
"I really regret this for our fans because our team is playing very well right now," said Texas Tech Head Coach Dan Spencer. "This is out of our control and we did our best to convince Mississippi Valley State to come. We were paying for their entire trip but they have decided against it. If we can't come up with any makeup games, I hope that our fans will turn out in droves to support this team against a good Oklahoma State squad."
Texas Tech is actively seeking makeup games but no decisions have been made at this time.
Should the games not be made up at Dan Law Field, season ticket holders can exchange their MVSU tickets for any of the three-games against Oklahoma State (May 15-17). For more information, contact the Texas Tech Athletics Ticket Office at (806) 742-TECH.
