Women's Tennis Opens Season in Grand Style

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's tennis season opens in grand style with three matches in three days.
Friday's matches against UT-Arlington will be played indoors at Lubbock Country Club beginning at 6 PM.
On Saturday at 11 AM, the Lady Raiders take on the Green Wave of Tulane. The third non-conference match in three days will be against New Mexico on Sunday at 10 AM.
All matches will be played at the McLeod Tennis Center on the Texas Tech campus.
The Lady Raiders begin competition each day with three doubles matches followed by six single competitions.
For the fans, the women's tennis program will be giving out free t-shirts and Domino's pizza at all matches this weekend.
Coach Todd Petty's 2009-2010 squad features one senior, two juniors, two sophomores, and six freshmen.
Four freshmen are scheduled to play their first collegiate matches this weekend.
In the rankings, freshman Elizabeth Ullathorne currently sits No. 18 in the regional rankings followed by sophomore Natalie Leitch, who currently is No. 20.
After the matches this weekend, the Lady Raiders will have all their matches on the road until returning to their home courts on March 3.
Should inclement weather become a factor for any of the three matches during the opening three days, play will move indoors.
Friday's match against UT-Arlington will begin at 6 PM at Lubbock Country Club. The Texas Tech / Tulane match would be played at The Falls at 11 AM, and Sunday's match against New Mexico would be played at 8 AM at Lubbock Country Club.
