Texas Tech Head Coach Kristy Curry
On the game:
"I think any given night in this league anyone can be beaten. That is why (the Big 12) is so competitive and the number one league in the country. You have to give Oklahoma credit, they made a lot of plays down the stretch. With a little over three minutes to go it was a two possession game. We had some moments where we didn't compete at the level I thought we needed to as far as getting to the foul line and being aggressive. Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades, and I am not about that.
On the challenges of playing Oklahoma:
"Especially in the first half, I think we were two seconds ahead. They made us play really, really fast. We weren't as patient as we have been and that is something we have to learn from. I think we settled down a little bit in the second half. At critical times we cut into the lead, but you have to give them credit. Their backcourt was outstanding as they have been with (Nyeshia) Stevenson and (Danielle) Robinson, who really makes good decisions. I thought Amanda Thompson made some big baskets."
On how she feels about her team:
"Optimistic. I hugged my kids and told them, 'You know what? There are going to be a lot of teams come in here and have that result.' That doesn't make it right, but we feel like we are a much improved basketball team. You have to have short term memory. You can't look back and you can't look ahead. We have to stay positive."
Texas Tech Senior Guard Tilmila Martin
On stopping Oklahoma's fast-paced offense:
"I think we did good in the first half. I thought in the second half we weren't as good and let (Danielle Robinson) get some easy baskets. We didn't pick up the ball and she is quick, very quick. She can get to the rim."
Texas Tech Senior Forward Ashlee Roberson
On if Oklahoma is a team they can beat in their next meeting: "Definitely, but you have to give Oklahoma credit. For next game, we have to look at this film and fix our mistakes. We have to come out next game against them and play harder."
On the freshmen following the seniors' lead on the road:
"We have to stay positive and be good role models. If we continue to do that and stay positive, they will follow moving in the right direction."
