Lady Raiders at Rice on Valentine's Day

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech Lady Raiders (3-2) dropped their neutral site match in Houston, Texas, to the Arizona Wildcats (6-1) this afternoon, 5-2.
The Wildcats won two of the three doubles matches for the point and then won four of six singles matches to claim the win at the Jake Hess Stadium.
In No. 1 doubles, Kelsy Garland and Elizabeth Ullathorne lost to Arizona's Natasha Marks and Alexandrina Naydenova, 8-4.
The Lady Raider duo of Kerryn Potgieter and Caroline Starck won their No. 2 doubles match over Sarah Landsman and Claire Rietsch, 8-6.
The Wildcats took the doubles point with an 8-6 win by Ariane Masschelein and Natalia Toporowska over Natalie Leitch and Lorena Aviles.
In singles, Texas Tech won at the No. 4 and No. 6 positions. No. 4 singles player Natalie Leitch downed Ariane Masschelein 1-6, 6-0, 6-1, while Lorena Aviles won her No. 6 singles match over Jane Huh, 6-2, 6-4.
At No. 1 singles, Arizona's Natasha Marks stopped Sandra Dynka, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2. In the No. 2 singles spot, Sarah Landsman downed Kelsy Garland, 6-4, 6-2. Alexandrina Naydenova edged out Elizabeth Ullathorne at No. 3 singles, 1-6, 6-4, 7-6. Arizona's Claire Rietsch stopped Caroline Starck at the No. 5 singles, 7-5, 7-6.
On Valentine's Day, the Lady Raiders face off against the Rice Owls in an 11 a.m. match.
Texas Tech travels to Mississippi next weekend for matches against Southern Miss and Ole Miss.
The Lady Raiders have five more matches on the road before returning home for their opening conference match against Baylor on March 3 at 3 p.m. at the McLeod Tennis Center.
