Texas Tech to Mississippi for Two Matches

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's tennis team travels to Mississippi for matches on Friday and Saturday against Southern Mississippi and the University of Mississippi.
The Lady Raiders (3-3) take on the Lady Golden Eagles of Southern Mississippi (3-2) on Friday at 2 p.m. at the Tatum Park and Racquet Club.
In late January, the Conference USA squad from Hattiesburg fell in their opening two matches to No. 25 Alabama, 6-1, and to Mississippi, 7-0. The Lady Golden Eagles then won their next three matches. They defeated Alcorn State and Prairie View A&M by identical 7-0 scores, and then stopped Lamar on February 15, 5-2.
Texas Tech takes on the University of Mississippi (3-1) of the Southeastern Conference on Saturday in Oxford. The 1 p.m. match with the No. 18 Rebels will be played at the Gillom Sports Center.
The Rebels opened their season with a 7-0 win over Southern Mississippi and a 4-2 win against Illinois before losing at Clemson, 4-3. In their last match, the Rebels shut out Murray State, 7-0.
Texas Tech (3-3) downed UT-Arlington in their match opener on January 22, 4-2. The following day, the Lady Raiders stopped Tulane, 4-2. Playing their third match in three days, Tech dropped the New Mexico Lobos, 6-1, at the McLeod Tennis Center on January 24.
After three wins at home, the Lady Raiders lost their first match of the season at North Texas, 5-2. Texas Tech fell in their neutral site match with the Arizona Wildcats, 5-2. On Valentine's Day, Tech lost to Rice, 6-1.
After the two matches in Mississippi, Texas Tech travels to Reno next weekend for matches against Nevada-Reno and the University of San Francisco.
The Lady Raiders return home for their opening conference match against Baylor on March 3 at 3 p.m. at the McLeod Tennis Center.
