- Texas Tech improves to 5-0 on the year and that marks the best start for the Red Raiders since starting out the 2005 season at 5-0.
- Texas Tech and Bethune-Cookman met on the diamond for the first time tonight and the Red Raiders now lead the all-time series 1-0.
- Texas Tech is now 7-0 all-time against teams from the MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference).
- Junior center fielder Taylor Ashby matched his career-high with four RBIs on the night while also picking up his first home run of the year. The home run was just the fifth of his career and his first since Feb. 27, 2009, at Cal-State Northridge. Ashby also leads the team with a five-game hit streak and his batting average has climbed to .381 through give games.
- Junior catcher Jeremy Mayo belted his first home run of the season in the third and it marked the 13th of his career. Mayo's last home run came last season on April 25 at Missouri and he also tied his career-high with three hits and finished the game 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
- Junior right fielder Barrett Barnes had his four-game hit streak snapped tonight as he went 0-for-4 at the plate and committed his first fielding error (first inning) of the season.
