- Texas Tech improved to 6-1 on the season and to 2-0 all-time against Bethune-Cookman. The Red Raiders are now 8-0 all-time against teams from the MEAC.
- Senior shortstop Joey Kenworthy hit his first home run of the season (a three-run blast in the fourth) and just the fifth of his career. The home run was his first since the series opener against Kansas on April 17, 2009. He finished the night 2-for-3 at the plate with a career-high five RBIs and now leads the team with four multiple-hit games.
- Junior third baseman Nick Popescu hit his first home run of the season, an inside-the park dinger in the fourth. Popescu's inside-the-park home run was the first by a Red Raider since Roger Kieschnick did it against New Mexico on May 14, 2007.
- Stephen Hagen, who was the JUCO leader in home runs last season, picked up his first home run of the year for the Red Raiders in the eighth inning. The home run was just his second RBI of the year.
- Freshman right fielder Barrett Barnes drove in his first run of the weekend in the eighth inning and now has 10 RBIs on the season. He is second on the team behind Scott LeJeune who has driven in 11 runs after going 2-for-4 tonight with two RBIs and one run scored.
- Senior center fielder Taylor Ashby had his six-game hit streak snapped as he went 0-for-5.
- Senior left fielder Michael Reed extended his hit streak to five games this afternoon with a double in the second inning. His five-game streak is currently the longest on the team.
