Lady Raiders Defeat Dons

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech Lady Raiders (5-4) downed the University of San Francisco Dons (3-6) at the Lakeridge Tennis Club in Reno, Nevada, on Saturday night, 4-3.
It was the second road win for the Texas Tech team.
The Lady Raiders swept the doubles point.
Natalie Leitch and Kelsy Garland defeated Jennifer-Lee Heinser at the top spot, 8-4. Elizabeth Ullathorne and Caroline Starck stopped Julia Wartenburger and Yurie Hashiguchi at the No. 2 position, 8-4. Kerryn Potgieter and Sandra Dynka closed out Cecilia Gratian and Melinda Akerbrant at No. 3 double, 8-6.
Each team won three singles matches.
At No. 1 singles, Sandra Dynka lost to USF's Jennifer-Lee Heinser, 6-3, 6-3. At No. 2 singles, Elizabeth Ullathorne fell to Julia Wartenburger 6-4, 6-7, 7-6. Natalie Leitch defeated Cecilia Gratian at the fourth spot, 6-3, 6-1. At No. 4 singles, Kelsy Garland defeated Melinda Akerbrant, 6-3, 6-2. Caroline Starck defeated Yurie Hashiguchi 6-4, 6-1 to claim the No. 5 singles match. USF's Alana McMahon edged Lorena Aviles at No. 6 singles 6-4, 2-6, 10-6.
On Sunday at 4:45 p.m., the Lady Raiders conclude non-conference play on the road when they take on the Wolf Pack of the University of Nevada-Reno at the Lakeridge Tennis Club.
Texas Tech returns home for their opening conference match against Baylor on March 3 at 3 p.m. at the McLeod Tennis Center.
