LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech's Kimberly Kaufman and Jackie Smith each fired 71s in the second round of the Northern Migration Invite on Tuesday, making strong moves into 10th-place ties. Both were tied in 51st place following opening round 79s.
Kaufman's score helped the Lady Raiders jump three spots as the team sits in the eighth-place slot heading into Wednesday's final round. Smith score doesn't count toward the team score as she is playing as an individual.
Rosalyn Kim, who opened with a 74 and was tied in 11th place after one round, struggled on the day with an 81 and dropped to a 35th-place tie. Gabriella Dominguez and Alex Gibson are tied in 47th and 55th places, while Beverly Mendoza is tied in 82nd place. Individually, Deborah DeVilla is tied in 82nd place.
Texas-San Antonio leads the event by one stroke over Idaho. Minnesota, East Tennessee State and Kansas are third through fifth, while Nebraska and Florida International are tied in sixth place. Behind the Lady Raiders in a ninth-place tie are Kansas State and Eastern Michigan.
Iowa State, Boise State, Northern Arizona, Bradley and Wichita State are 11th through 15th and Morehead State is 17th. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Montana are tied in 17th place and Towson State is 19th.
The final round gets underway Wednesday morning. Live scoring and complete tournament results and standings are available at www.golfstat.com.
