Lubbock,, TEXAS - The Texas Tech Lady Raiders played their second conference match of the season on Friday afternoon at the McLeod Tennis Center with a loss to No. 34 Oklahoma, 4-3.
With deteriorating weather conditions on the horizon, the coaches decided to play the six singles matches first.
Oklahoma struck first as Ana-Maria Constantinescu downed Sandra Dynka at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-3.
Texas Tech pulled even in the match when Caroline Starck won her No. 5 singles match against Tara Eckel, 6-2, 6-4.
Junior Kelsy Garland put the Lady Raiders in the lead with her No. 4 singles win over Teona Tsertsvadze, 6-3, 6-1.
Oklahoma tied the match at 2-2 when Maria Kalashnikova stopped Elizabeth Ullathorne, 6-3, 7-6 (7-4).
Sooner Marie-Pier Huet and Lady Raider Natalie Leitch went three sets at No. 2 singles before OU prevailed, 6-2, 2-6, 6-3.
In the longest match of the afternoon, Kristina Radan won her No. 6 singles match over Lorena Aviles, 6-3, 7-6 (8-6) to give the Sooners a 4-2 margin at the end of singles play.
Despite the falling temperature and increasing winds, Texas Tech won the doubles point winning two of the three doubles matches.
Oklahoma's No. 2 doubles duo of Tara Eckel and Marie-Pier Huet beat Elizabeth Ullathorne and Caroline Starck, 8-4.
The Lady Raiders came back to win at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to claim the doubles point. Kelsy Garland and Natalie Leitch defeated Ana-Maria Constantinescu and Maria Kalashnikova, 8-6, at No. 1 doubles. Sandra Dynka and Peana defeated Teona Tsertsvadze and Katelyn Connelly at No. 3 doubles, 8-6.
The Lady Raiders host Cowgirls of Oklahoma State on Sunday morning at the McLeod Tennis Center. Matches get underway at 11 a.m.
