- Texas Tech falls to 8-12 on the season and to 0-2 in Big 12 Conference play.
- Texas Tech is now riding a seven-game losing skid, its longest such streak since losing eight games back in 1987.
- With tonight's loss to Texas A&M, the Aggies clinch the series with the finale set for 1:05 p.m. on Sunday. Texas Tech has never won a three-game series at Olsen Field since the stadium opened in 1978.
- Tonight's game against Texas A&M was the 145th all-time meeting between the two clubs and the 70th meeting in College Station. With the win, Texas A&M extends its series lead to 90-55 and to 54-16 in games played in College Station.
- Texas Tech struckout 10 Aggies batters tonight setting a new season strikeout record for the Aggies. They had struckout nine times in two different games coming into tonight's contest.
- Senior center fielder Taylor Ashby picked up one of Tech's five hits on the night in the top of the third and that gave him 195 in his career. He now occupies sole possession of eighth place on the school's career hits list.
- With a leadoff single in the top of the first, freshman Jamodrick McGruder extended his season-long hit streak to six games. Kevin Whitehead's also extended his hit streak to four games with a two-run home run in the third.
- Whitehead's two-run home run in the third inning tied the game at 2-2 and marked his third home run of the season and the 20th of the season for the team.
- Junior left-hander Jay Johnson and A&M designated hitter Joe Patterson were ejected in the bottom of the eighth following Greene's RBI triple. The two were involved in a verbal confrontation at home plate.
