LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech wrapped up day two of spring workouts Wednesday with a two and a half hour practice in shells and helmets. The Red Raiders worked out on the Jones AT&T Stadium turf as they will throughout the spring.
RECEIVERS STAND OUT: First-year head coach Tommy Tuberville praised the team's work ethic for the second practice and pointed out the receivers as having a particularly strong workout. He noted Detron Lewis and Adam James, among others, but was pleased with the unit following two practice sessions.
STEADY AT THE END: The final period of practice is reserved for field goals, and Matt Williams and Bradley Hicks made the most of their time. Both connected on all field goals from various distances and hash marks and received praise from their teammates for each kick made.
TWO DOWN, TWO TO GO: We're talking about seasons, not practices. Monday's workout weather consisted of still conditions and temperatures in the mid-70s - a perfect spring day on the South Plains. The players and coaches met the north wind head-on Wednesday as they stepped out of the southeast tunnel onto the field. The wind chill dropped temperatures into the 40s, despite efforts from the sun to warm things up.
COME ON OUT: A number of fans have attended practices the first two days and are encouraged to come out to future workouts. All practices are open to the fans, who are asked to enter the stadium through the southeast ramp and proceed up the stairwell from the field to the stands.
SATURDAY SCRIMMAGE INFO: Texas Tech will conduct its first scrimmage of the spring Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Again, the public is invited to attend and catch a glimpse of the Red Raiders in a real-game environment. Remember to print your rosters at www.texastech.com.
