Lady Raiders Host Aggies

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech Lady Raiders (6-8, 1-3 Big 12) host the Texas A&M Aggies on Sunday at the McLeod Tennis Center beginning at 1 p.m.
The Lady Raiders lost Friday's match against the No. 35 Texas Longhorns in Austin. Friday's match at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center saw the Longhorns win the doubles point and the six points in singles play. UT is now 7-3 for the season and has shutouts over Kansas State, Kansas, and Texas Tech in their first three conference matches this season.
Aeriel Ellis and Vanja Corovic stopped Kelsy Garland and Natalie Leitch at No. 1 doubles, 8-5. Elizabeth Ullathorne and Caroline Starck lost their No. 2 doubles match to Amanda Craddock and Krista Damico, 8-2. UT's No. 3 doubles duo of Sarah Lancaster and Caroline Larsson downed Sandra Dynka and Stefanie Peana, 8-5.
Aeriel Ellis won her No. 1 singles match over Sandra Dynka, 6-2, 6-4. Vanja Corovic downed Natalie Leitch at No. 2 singles, 6-0, 7-5. Krista Damico edged Elizabeth Ullathorne in the No. 3 singles match, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2. Kelsy Garland lost her No.4 singles match to Caroline Larsson, 6-1, 6-4. At No. 5 singles, Sarah Lancaster beat Caroline Starck, 7-5, 6-3. Maggie Mello defeated Stefanie Peana at No. 6 singles, 6-2, 7-5.
Texas A&M (7-4, 2-0 Big 12) opened with a 7-0 victory over Kansas in their first conference match on March 19. The No. 44 Texas A&M women's tennis team has been idle since their 5-2 win over Kansas State on March 21.
The Texas Tech Lady Raiders garnered their first conference match of the season with their 5-1 win over the No. 56 Cowgirls of Oklahoma State on March 21 at the McLeod Tennis Center.
After facing these two ranked Big 12 opponents, the Lady Raiders are away for their next two matches. On April 9, Texas Tech travels to Nebraska for a 5 p.m. match against the Huskers. The Lady Raiders will face the Iowa State Hawkeyes on April 11 at 8:30 a.m.
