LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech is facing another top tournament field as the No. 19 Red Raiders compete in The Aggie Invitational in College Station on Saturday and Sunday. Already sporting the eighth-strongest schedule in the country, Texas Tech will once participate in a field that includes No. 1 Oklahoma State, whom the Red Raiders have defeated twice this season, and No. 5 and tournament host Texas A&M.
The tournament will be played at the Traditions Golf Course, beginning with an 8 a.m. start both days. Saturday's play will consist of two rounds, followed by Sunday's final round. The Traditions will host one of six NCAA regional rounds in May.
This weekend's event is the final tuneup for the Red Raiders before next week's Big 12 Championships at Whispering Pines Golf Course in Trinity, Texas.
In addition to the Red Raiders, Aggies and Cowboys, the field includes No. 5 Texas, No. 18 TCU, Baylor, Colorado, Kent State, New Mexico, San Diego State, SMU and Texas-San Antonio. The Cowboys are the tournament's defending team champions.
Texas Tech Head Coach Greg Sands' lineup this weekend includes in order No. 16 Nils Floren, No. 40 Chris Ward, Brian Scherer, Matt Smith, Finley Ewing IV and Tyler Weworski. Tournaments typically feature a five-man format, but The Aggie Invitational allows six to play with the top five scorers counting against the team total.
