- Texas Tech now stands at 19-19 on the season and at 7-7 in Big 12 play. The Red Raiders will enter Sunday's rubber match against the Sooners in third place in the Big 12 Conference standings.
- The second game of tonight's doubleheader marked the 58th all-time meeting between Texas Tech and Oklahoma. The Sooners lead the all-time series 32-25-1 while the Red Raiders hold a 12-10 advantage in games played at Dan Law Field.
- Texas Tech has now faced a ranked opponent 17 times this season which is the most of any team in the Big 12. Tech is now 5-11 against teams ranked in the Top 25.
- Texas Tech turned three double plays in today's doubleheader to give the team 38 on the season, which leads the Big 12. Tech turned two in tonight's 7-3 win.

- Freshman first baseman Barrett Barnes hit his team-leading eighth home run of the season as the leadoff hitter in the bottom of the fifth. The home run extended his current hit streak to 11 games which is the longest hit streak this season by any Red Raider.
- Freshman second baseman Jamodrick McGruder led off the game with a solo home run which marked his fifth of the season.
- After going the first 29 games of the season without a win, junior RHP Bobby Doran has now won three consecutive games dating back to game-two of the Kansas State series on April 2.
- Senior center fielder Taylor Ashby now occupies sole possession of third place on the school's career games played list with 197.
