LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech Lady Raiders (10-10, 5-5 Big 12) won the doubles point and five singles matches for a 6-1 win over Kansas at the Jayhawk Tennis Center on Friday.
It was the fourth consecutive conference win for the Lady Raiders.
Texas Tech claimed two of the three doubles matches for one point. At No. 3 doubles, Stefanie Peana and Lorena Aviles shutout Maria Martinez and Alie Dzuba, 8-0. Kelsy Garland and Caroline Starck defeated Sara Lazarevic and Kunigunda Dorn at No. 2 doubles, 8-2. The Kansas duo of Ekaterina Morozova and Erin Wilbert stopped Sandra Dynka and Elizabeth Ullathorne, 8-6.
The Lady Raiders took five of the six singles matches. Kelsy Garland downed Sara Lazarevic at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-2. Elizabeth Ullathorne won her No.3 singles match over Maria Martinez, 6-1, 6-4. Caroline Starck defeated Kunigunda Dorn in three sets at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 3-6, 6-2. At No. 5 singles, Lorena Aviles stopped Erin Wilbert in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3. Stefanie Peana defeated Victoria Khanevskaya at No. 6 singles in another three-set match, 6-3, 1-6, 7-5.
Kansas gained a point in the match with Ekaterina Morozova's win over Sandra Dynka at No. 1 singles, 7-5, 6-2.
The Lady Raiders close out the conference season when they travel to Manhattan, Kansas, for Sunday's 1 p.m. match against the KSU Wildcats at the Wamego Recreation Complex.
The Big 12 Championships get underway in Austin, Texas, beginning on April 29.
