Riding the high of a crucial series win at Kansas over the weekend, the Red Raiders will close out a four-game road swing on Tuesday afternoon in Albuquerque. The Red Raiders will face the New Mexico Lobos at 3 p.m. (CT) at Isotopes Park in what will mark the first meeting of the year between these two border rivals. Tech and New Mexico were originally scheduled to play the first of a two-game season series at Dan Law Field on Feb. 23 but inclement weather forced the cancellation of that contest and currently there are no plans to reschedule. Texas Tech enters the contest with a 24-20 overall record thanks to a 2-1 series win over Kansas this past weekend in Lawrence. The Lobos stand at 27-14 after a two-game sweep at Air Force on Sunday in Colorado Springs. The game against New Mexico will be carried live on the Texas Tech Sports Network with the pregame show beginning at 1:30 p.m.

SCOUTING NEW MEXICO
New Mexico enters Tuesday's game against Texas Tech having won three consecutive games thanks to a doubleheader sweep of Air Force on Sunday in Colorado Springs. The series against the Falcons was reduced to two games due to snowfall. The Lobos claimed the series with a 14-2 win in the first game of the doubleheader and a 6-0 shutout in the finale. New Mexico is now 27-14 on the season and 10-4 in Mountain West play and most pundits have the Lobos projected as a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Offensively, the Lobos are potent as always with a .350 team batting average along with 115 doubles, 18 triples and 27 home runs. New Mexico is 32-of-56 in stolen bases and boasts an on-base percentage of .419. Justin Howard leads the squad with a .438 average along with 46 RBIs and is tied with Rafael Neda for the team lead with eight home runs.
On the mound, the Lobos are much improved from year's past with a 5.29 earned run average and are holding opponents to a .311 batting average. Kenny Toves is the leader of the UNM staff with a 3-1 record and a 3.23 ERA over 47 1/3 innings pitched.
