Texas Tech now stands at 24-21 on the season and had its two-game win streak halted with today's loss to New Mexico.
Despite today's loss to UNM, the Red Raiders still lead the all-time series 58-36-1. Today's game was the 95th meeting between Texas Tech and New Mexico.
Texas Tech surrendered nine runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and that was the second most allowed in a single frame this year as Houston scored 10 runs on the Red Raiders in the bottom of the second back at the Houston College Classic on March 7.
Texas Tech head coach Dan Spencer now has a career record of 49-53.
Sophomore designated hitter Scott LeJeune belted his 25th double of the season in the fourth inning and is now just four shy of tying the school's season record of 29.
Nick Popescu and Scott LeJeune each extended their current hit streaks to eight games while Jamodrick McGruder and Jeremy Mayo had their seven-game streaks snapped.
