THE SERIES

TEXAS TECH/OKLAHOMA STATE SERIES NOTES
- Both Texas Tech and OSU will be looking for consecutive Big 12 series wins as the Red Raiders took 2-of-3 from No. 20 Kansas State this past weekend while OSU took two from Nebraska. Texas Tech is 4-5 in Big 12 play while the Cowboys stand at 2-4.
- Oklahoma State has won each of the last four series dating back to the 2006 season. Last year, Tech won the first game of the series to officially eliminate the Cowboys from the Big 12 Tournament but OSU rallied to win the last two games and thus won the series.
- Texas Tech's last series win in Stillwater came in 2004 when the Red Raiders took 2-of-3 from the Cowboys at Allie Reynolds Stadium. Tech dropped the series opener that year but responded with a 6-2 win on Saturday and then put up a dramatic 11-8 win in the finale on Sunday.
- Texas Tech is 9-15 all-time in Stillwater.
SCOUTING OKLAHOMA STATE
The Oklahoma State Cowboys come into Friday's series opener against Texas Tech riding a two-game losing skid. OSU dropped a 9-6 decision at home on Tuesday to Wichita State and then lost a road contest at Missouri State 7-5 on Wednesday. Wednesday's loss dropped OSU to 17-10 on the year and they stand at 2-4 in Big 12 play after winning a three-game home series last weekend against Nebraska.
The Cowboys are as potent as ever offensively as they enter the weekend with a .335 team batting average. Coming into the week, OSU led the Big 12 in hitting and catcher Dane Phillips was second individually. Phillips leads the Cowboys with a .410 clip and is tied for first with 10 doubles. Third baseman Mark Ginther leads the squad with six home runs and 32 RBIs.
On the mound, the Cowboys have a staff earned run average of 5.22 and are led by Mike Strong. Strong is 3-1 on the year in eight appearances and has logged a 2.90 ERA over 31 innings of work.
