Lady Raiders Honored at the Second Annual TECHspy Awards

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's basketball team took home several awards at the second annual TECHspy Awards held at the Allen Theater.
Highlighting the event was the Male and Female Athletes of the Year, which Lady Raider Jordan Murphree shared the Female Athlete of the Year Award with Megan Hoffert of the soccer team.
On the academic side of the awards, Murphree, Lindie Kimbro and Mary Bokenkamp all received High Merit Awards, while Jordan Barncastle, Monique Smalls and Shauntal Nobles took home Merit Awards.
Kaylan Talley was named the Top Graduating Senior from the women's basketball team for her commitment to academics.
As a team, the Lady Raiders once again won the Community Service Award for all their time and dedication giving back to the community of Lubbock.
At the end of the night, 222 student-athletes were awarded based on their performances not only on the field, but even more so in the classroom.
The athletic awards presented at the banquet were voted on by participating student-athletes, coaches, and athletic department employees while the academic awards were chosen by athletic academic staff, senior staff, athletic council, and various academic faculty. The TECHspys are an annual event coordinated by the Athletic Academic Services department.
