TEXAS TECH/NEBRASKA SERIES NOTES
- Texas Tech and Nebraska will be meeting for the 48th time on Friday evening when the two schools begin a three-game series at Haymarket Park. The Huskers hold a 26-21 advantage in the all-time series.
- Texas Tech and Nebraska first met back on March 26, 1990 in Lubbock and the Cornhuskers came out victorious with an 8-3 win. The two teams played a total of five times as non-conference foes before both schools joined the Big 12 Conference back in 1997. Since Big 12 play began, the Huskers have posted a 24-18 record against the Red Raiders.
- Texas Tech will be in search of just its second series win at Haymarket Park as the last time the Red Raiders were victorious there in a three-game series was in 2004 when Tech won 2-of-3 from the Huskers. Nebraska owns a 14-5 record against Tech in games played in Lincoln.
- Texas Tech claimed a series win over the Huskers (2-1) last year in Lubbock but Nebraska has won six of the last 10 meetings dating back to the 2006 season.
SCOUTING THE HUSKERS
The Nebraska Cornhuskers enter the weekend series fresh off a 21-5 thrashing of in-state rival Creighton on Tuesday. The game against the Blue Jays was played at Omaha's Rosenblatt Stadium and marked the final appearance for the Huskers in that historic venue. The win gives Nebraska a 24-27 overall record heading into the weekend series against the Red Raiders.
Offensively, the Huskers are powered by one of the best hitters in the country in right fielder Adam Bailey. Bailey leads the Big 12 with 17 home runs and has driven in 63 runs, all the while tallying a season batting average of .370. DJ Belfonte leads the squad with a .378 clip while Cody Asche is second behind Bailey with 54 RBIs.
On the mound, Nebraska owns a 5.20 staff earned run average and is led by reliever Casey Hauptman. Hauptman owns a 4.26 ERA over 69 2/3 innings pitched and has made 17 relief appearances and owns three saves.
