LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech's first official two-a-day practice is in the books as the Red Raiders just wrapped up the second and final workout of the day.
The Red Raiders hit the game field inside Jones AT&T Stadium this morning for pre-practice activities around 9 a.m. and then officially got started at 9:30 a.m. with team stretch. The first workout lasted just over two hours and ended with the traditional team period. Following practice, the team had lunch in the athletics dining hall and then resumed meetings later in the afternoon.
Tonight's workout was the first under the lights thus far in training camp and focused mainly on the kicking game and special teams. The practice was cut short from 18 periods to 15 in order to give the guys more rest prior to Friday morning.
ZOUZALIK OUT INDEFINITELY
Sophomore receiver Austin Zouzalik will be out indefinitely after undergoing an emergency appendectomy earlier this morning. Zoulalk became ill overnight and was taken to a local hospital for treatment where appendicitis was diagnosed. Texas Tech athletics would like to thank Dr. Michael Phy (team physician) and Dr. Richie Rosen for their prompt attention and care for Austin.
SATURDAY IS FAN DAY
Fan Day is scheduled for this Saturday between 2-4 p.m. at the United Spirit Arena. Come out and meet this year's football and women's volleyball teams and get a sampling of Texas Tech's new concession options. Only one autograph item per person will be allowed and fans can enter the arena from the northwest entrance.
FRIDAY PRACTICE TIME CHANGE
Texas Tech will practice in the morning at 9:50 a.m. The original practice time was scheduled for 3 p.m.
