LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech's third and final two-a-day is in the books as the Red Raiders wrapped up their evening practice at 8 p.m. The Red Raiders got to work early this morning with a 9:30 a.m. practice in full pads.
In an effort to prepare the team for what will most likely be a hot afternoon on Sept. 5, coach Tuberville has moved tomorrow's practice from 7:15 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. (right in the heat of the day). Coach is also considering pushing Saturday's scrimmage back an hour to 11 a.m. in order for the temperatures to be warmer. This scrimmage time has not been firmly decided and will remain closed to the public.
ESPN CREW SET FOR THE SEASON OPENER
The ESPN broadcast crew has been set for the SMU game. Mark Jones (play-by-play), Bob Davie (analyst) and Holly Rowe (sidelines) will call the action live from Jones AT&T Stadium on Sept. 5.
KICKOFF LUNCHEON IS TOMORROW
The 2010 Red Raider Club Kickoff Luncheon will be held tomorrow at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. The event gets underway at 11:15 a.m. with lunch and will be followed by a program that will feature various speakers, including coach Tuberville. The entire team will be in attendance for the luncheon as well as the Masked Rider, the cheer and pom squads and the Goin' Band From Raiderland.
DUNCAN NAMED TO THE BUTKUS WATCHLIST
Senior linebacker Brian Duncan has been named to the 2010 Dick Butkus Award preseason watchlist. The Butkus Award honors the nation's top linebacker and was awarded to Alabama's Rolando McClain last season. Duncan is now on three preseason watch lists (Butkus, Nagurski and Lott).
