Lady Raiders Open Season at New Mexico

LUBBOCK, Texas - The 2010-11 Texas Tech women's basketball season is just around the corner and the Lady Raiders boast a 17-home game schedule and will play 13 games on the road.
Highlighting this year's schedule will be the Big Ten/Big 12 Challenge, in which Tech will travel to Penn State and take on the Nittany Lions on Dec. 5. Tech will also compete in the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic Dec. 19-20, and face Big East member Pittsburgh and California from the Pac-10, respectively.
Tech opens the season against New Mexico on Nov. 12, and then returns to the United Spirit Arena for seven-straight games - Samford (Nov. 15), Idaho State (Nov. 21), Mississippi Valley State (Nov. 23), Charleston Southern (Nov. 26), American (Nov. 27), Sam Houston State (Nov. 28) and UTSA (Dec. 1). The games on Nov. 26-28 are part of the World Vision Classic.
After the trip to State College, Pa., the Lady Raiders host Northwestern State before heading west to Las Vegas. Tech wraps up non-conference play with a game at Western Kentucky (Dec. 29) and a home game with Houston Baptist (Jan. 3).
The 16-game Big 12 Conference schedule begins with a trip to Lawrence, Kan., to take on the Jayhawks on Jan. 8. Other games in January include - Missouri (Jan. 12), Kansas State (Jan. 15), at Oklahoma (Jan. 19), at Baylor (Jan. 22), Texas (Jan. 26) and at Nebraska (Jan. 29).
The month of February starts with a home game versus Texas A&M (Feb. 5) and then two-straight road games at Oklahoma State (Feb. 9) and at Colorado (Feb. 12). Next up are two home contests against Iowa State (Feb. 16) and Baylor (Feb. 19). The final two games that month are at Texas A&M (Feb. 22) and home against Oklahoma State (Feb. 26).
Tech will then play at Texas (Mar. 2) and conclude the regular season in Lubbock with Oklahoma (Mar. 5).
A new format will be featured for the 2011 Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Championship. The championship will be held March 8, 9, 11 and 12 at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo. The event will return to its previous starting date of Tuesday with first-round games followed by the quarterfinals on Wednesday, with a day off on Thursday and the semifinals on Friday. The new format will feature both women's and men's championship finals being played on the same day for the first time in Big 12 history. The women will play early in the day on Saturday with the men competing Saturday evening.
The FSN television package will be released at a later date and game times will be announced at that time.
