LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech soccer team keeps getting national recognition as junior midfielder Taylor Lytle was named to TopDrawerSoccer.com's College Players to Watch Top 100 Upperclass Women.
The Las Cruces, N.M., native comes in at No. 72 on the list and is one of seven players from the Big 12 Conference on the top 100 list.
"There are not many attacking mids at the college level that have as much game as Taylor, so I expect that by season's end we will see that 72nd was a bit low," said head coach Tom Stone. "It is great to be recognized and I am sure this will only motivate Taylor further to continue to perform at a high level."
Lytle, a preseason All-Big 12 selection, had a stellar sophomore campaign as she was named All-Big 12 first team after setting the school records for assists in a season (11) and in a game (3) in 2009. She started and played in 19 of 20 matches and only missed that one match due to illness. This season, Lytle has already scored three goals, including two game-winning goals, and collected one assist as she helped lead the Red Raiders to their best in school history.
This ranking includes sophomores, junior and seniors only and will be updated weekly. The freshmen list will be released next Wednesday.
