LUBBOCK, Texas - For the first time since Nov. 27, 2006, the Texas Tech women's basketball team has joined the Top 25 rankings. The Lady Raiders entered the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Top 25 poll at No. 25.
Off to its best start since the 2003-04 season, the Lady Raiders are currently 16-1 and 3-0 in the Big 12 after wins at Kansas, against Missouri and a double-overtime victory over Kansas State.
The Lady Raiders had not been ranked in either the Associated Press or the USA Today/ESPN Coaches polls since they were No. 25 in the AP poll on Nov. 27, 2006, which was head coach Kristy Curry's first season at Tech.
Tech hits the road for two games against ranked opponents this week - at No. 14/13 Oklahoma on Wed., Jan. 19, and at No. 1/1 Baylor on Sat., Jan. 22.
