Baseball Holds First Team Practice Friday

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech baseball team will begin official team practices Friday, Jan. 28, at 2:15 p.m. at Dan Law Field. The Red Raiders have three weeks of team practices before Opening Day on Feb. 18.
Texas Tech, who is coming off a 28-29 overall record and fifth place finish in the Big 12 Conference, returns 12 letterwinners and also has 17 newcomers and four redshirt-returners listed on its roster for the upcoming season.
Included among Tech's returners are Freshmen All-Americans Barrett Barnes (CF) and Jamodrick McGruder (INF/OF) and returning second team All-Big 12 selection Scott LeJeune (OF).
Texas Tech has an 18-game homestand to open the 2011 season while hosting the Red Raider Classic, Feb. 18-20. The Red Raiders' first opponents are Western Michigan (Feb. 18), Northwestern (Feb. 19), Utah Valley (Feb. 19) and Northwestern (Feb. 20).
