LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's basketball program had around 40 athletes participate in a youth clinic Saturday morning at Premier Sportsplex.
The clinic ranged with youth players from first through sixth grade as the Lady Raiders ran the participants through a circuit of drills focusing on dribbling, rebounding and shooting.
"This is a lot of fun for us," head coach Kristy Curry said. "Our community does so much by being in the stands to support us, so we feel it's necessary to get out and give back as well. This is a great opportunity for our players to teach the game and they really enjoy the little ones."
The clinic is one of several community activities for the Lady Raiders during the 2011-12 season as Tech also has visits planned to local hospitals and other programs.
The Lady Raiders officially begin their season Sunday evening with the start of team practices. Tech returns 12 players off last year's squad that finished 22-11 overall and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
