Barnes Named Preseason All-Conference by Perfect Game USA

LUBBOBCK, Texas - Texas Tech sophomore Barrett Barnes was named preseason All-Big 12 by Perfect Game USA, marking his third preseason all-conference selection.
Barnes, a four-time Freshman All-American pick following the 2010 campaign, has also been named preseason all-conference by Baseball America and College Baseball Daily.
Barnes was one of three outfielders named to the preseason team while he was also tabbed the No. 3 Pro Prospect for the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft among Big 12 players.
His freshman season was a breakthrough year for Barnes, who batted a team best .341 with 71 runs scored, 19 doubles, two triples, a team-leading 14 home runs with 53 RBI and 12-of-15 stolen bases. Barnes led the team with 22 multi-hit games.
In 18 games against nationally-ranked opponents, Barnes hit .338 (23-for-68) with 18 runs, two doubles, one triple and seven home runs with 18 RBI.
The Red Raiders, who finished fifth in the Big 12 standings in 2010, was picked to finish eighth in the Big 12 by Perfect Game USA. Texas was the preseason pick to win the league followed by Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Baylor, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Nebraska, Texas Tech, Kansas and Missouri.
