Mallard Named Big 12 Player of the Week

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech junior center Kierra Mallard was named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 14-20.
The Dallas, Texas, native Mallard helped Texas Tech to back-to-back victories over top 25 teams last week, including an upset of then No. 1/1 Baylor. In the win over then No. 20/23 Iowa State, Mallard scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds while adding two assists, two blocks and a steal. She had 10 points, eight rebounds, four blocks, one assist and one steal against Baylor. For the week Mallard averaged 14.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocks while shooting 46.7 percent from the floor.
Mallard shared the Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week honors with Carolyn Davis of Kansas, while Jordan Hooper of Nebraska was the Phillips 66 Big 12 Freshman of the Week.
This is Mallard's first Big 12 honor this season and the second for the Lady Raiders as senior Teena Wickett was named the conference player of the week on Dec. 27.
