LUBBOCK, Texas - A revamped defense, a record-setting offense and a new look to the Big 12 Conference are just three of the many exciting reasons to renew or purchase 2011 Texas Tech Football season tickets.
The 2010 season, the first under head coach Tommy Tuberville, was a record-breaking year in season ticket sales as 46,565 season packages were sold, surpassing the previous record of 41,740 set back in 2008. The 2010 Red Raiders ended the season with an 8-5 overall record and a victory over Northwestern in the inaugural Ticket City Bowl on Jan. 1.
"Our fans really stepped up last season and we had a record-breaking year," said Texas Tech director of athletics Gerald Myers. "The support was incredible last year and we hope to build on that even more in 2011 and continue to make Jones AT&T Stadium one of the most difficult places to play in the country. Season ticket sales are the lifeblood of our athletics program and we know our great fans will be ready to answer the call again this year."
"We kept our ticket increases to a minimum because we understand the current financial climate, but we had to make some changes to cover the rising cost of scholarships. Despite the increase, our football season tickets prices are among the lowest in the Big 12 Conference."
A total of six home games are on tap for the 2011 season, including the home opener against Texas State on Sept. 3. The remaining home schedule includes Nevada, Texas A&M, Kansas State, Iowa State and Oklahoma State. Dates for all games of the 2011 season will be released as soon as the Big 12 Conference makes them available. Additionally, Texas Tech's game against the Baylor Bears will return to Cowboys Stadium in Arlington with a date that is to be announced.
Beginning tonight, Texas Tech fans will have the opportunity to renew their season tickets online and thus securing their spots inside Jones AT&T Stadium for the 2011 season. Season ticket renewals will begin hitting mailboxes the first week of March. Fans will again have the option to pay their tickets in full, or elect to pay their balance in four equal installments, with the first payment due March 22 and the final payment due on June 15. Season tickets can be renewed instantly online at texastech.com/renew. The advantages of renewing online are a savings of $14 per order, the addition of five Red Raider Club Priority Points to your account and you will be registered to win two complimentary season tickets (tickets only). Season tickets can also be renewed via phone by calling the Athletic Ticket Office at (806) 742-4412 or 1-888-Go Big 12, or by mail.
Following the renewal process, Texas Tech will conduct seating upgrade requests based on Red Raider Club membership levels, May 2-6. Fans that were not season ticket holders in 2010 but have put down a deposit with the athletics ticket office for season tickets in 2011 will be seated before season ticket sales open to the general public on May 10, based on Red Raider Club Priority Points. Season parking at the United Spirit Arena is also available for renewal amid the process of season tickets.
