FIRST PITCH
Texas Tech plays its first midweek series of the season Tuesday and Wednesday against UNLV at Dan Law Field. The Red Raiders continue their 18-game homestand to open the 2011 season after winning three out of four at last weekend's Brooks Wallace Memorial Classic in Lubbock. UNLV enters with an identical 7-1 record. This will be the Rebels first road test. Tech will have a busy week as they take on nationally-ranked TCU for a three-game series at "The Law" this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Texas Tech and UNLV meet for the 13th and 14th time this week with UNLV leading the all-time series 7-5. The series is tied 3-3 in games played in Lubbock. The Red Raiders and Rebels split last year's two-game series in Las Vegas while Tech has won three of the last four overall and three of the last four in Lubbock. The midweek series has alternated locations since starting in Vegas in 2006. The all-time series began in 1986 when UNLV defeated Tech 5-4 (March 2) and 15-14 (March 5) in Lubbock.
