No. 21 Red Raiders Finish Sixth At Ameri Ari Invitational

LUBBOCK, Texas - Junior Tyler Weworski continued his hot play on the big island of Hawaii earlier today as he fired a 3-under 69 in the final round of the Ameri Ari Invitational to help lead the No. 21 Red Raiders to a sixth place team finish.
Weworski, a native of Carlsbad, Calif., ended the tournament in fourth place after firing rounds of 70, 65 and 69. His second round score of 7-under 65 marked the third lowest round in Texas Tech history and he wrapped up tournament play with a 3-under 69 in today's final round. Weworski's fourth place finish is the highest of his Texas Tech career.
As a team, the Red Raiders shot 1-over 289 in the third and final round to give them a sixth place team finish with a 54-hole total of 848, 16-under. Tech was just four strokes back of fourth place Georgia Tech and three strokes behind fifth place USC. Oklahoma State won the team title, its third of the year, with a three round total of 830, 34-under. Tech finished ahead of No. 11 Stanford, who finished 11th, and No. 24 Washington who ended the tournament in 12th place.
Senior Nils Floren posted a third-round score of 2-under 70 to finish in a tie for 22nd (4-under 212). Senior Matt Smith and freshman Chandler Rusk tied for 41st with three round totals of even par 216.
The Ameri Ari Invitational was held at the Waikoloa Kings' Course in Kona, Hawaii, and is a par-72 course with a yardage layout of 7,074. Texas Tech returns to action on Feb. 14 at the UTSA Invitational in San Antonio.
