LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech track program added two hurdlers to its 2011 class with the signing of Jordan "Bo" Burgess (Kennedale/Kennedale, Texas) and Isaiah Gill (South Plains/Plainfield, N.J.).
Burgess is the Texas 3A state champion in the 300M hurdles with a personal-best time of 37.26. He is the No. 2 ranked 400M hurdler in the nation with a personal-best time of 51.50. Burgess ran the 51.50 at the US National Juniors meet and placed fifth this past summer.
"I think Bo is one of the premier 400M hurdlers that people don't really know a whole lot about because he hasn't run it that many times," Kittley said. "He has tremendous speed and endurance and he is somebody that is really going to flourish in our program."
Tech also added a versatile sprinter and hurdler in Isaiah Gill from South Plains College. Gill is a Plainfield, N.J., native and was the New Jersey state champion in the 400M hurdles in 2008. He was a member of the 2010 All-American 4x100M relay for South Plains. He has personal bests of 51.83 in the 400M hurdles and 21.06 in the 200M.
"He is a guy that can run the 200M, 400M, 400M hurdles, 4x100M and 4x400M relays and is extremely versatile," Ktitley said. "We are so excited for him especially in the 400M hurdles and feel that he and Bo add to our talented hurdlers."
