LUBBOCK, TX - The Texas Tech (9-3) women's tennis team hosts two conference opponents and a nonconference foe beginning Friday afternoon, continuing on Saturday morning, and concluding on Sunday morning.
On Friday, the Texas Tech squad begins conference play against the Kansas Jayhawks. The Jayhawks are 6-4 in nonconference matches. Friday's match is also the first Big 12 match of the season for KU. First serve at the McLeod Tennis Center is at 3 p.m.
Texas Tech takes on the Kentucky Wildcats at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The Wildcats are 3-11 for the season. They lost at Baylor on Wednesday, play at TCU Thursday afternoon, and are at the McLeod Tennis Center for Saturday's match before returning home to play Alabama on March 25.
Coach Todd Petty's squad meets Kansas State, their second Big 12 opponent of the season, on Sunday at 11 a.m. The KSU Wildcats are 9-1 for the season with their only loss to Tulsa. K-State begins conference play at Baylor on Friday evening.
In conference play, teams are required to post their lineups in advance of weekend play. Lady Raider Elizabeth Ullathorne, a sophomore from the United Kingdom, will play No. 1 singles. Freshman Samantha Adams from New Braunfels, Texas, will be at No. 2 singles. Caroline Starck, sophomore from Williams Bay, Wisconsin, plays at the third singles position. Haley Fournier, a freshman from Leawood, Kansas, takes the court at No. 4 singles. Kelsy Garland, a senior from Coronado High School, plays at the fifth singles position. Nikki Sanders, freshman from Ontario, California, plays at the No. 6 singles spot.
In doubles action, Kelsy Garland and Samantha Adams will play at the No. 1 doubles spot. Caroline Starck and Nikki Sanders will be the Texas Tech duo at the No. 2 doubles position. Elizabeth Ullathorne and Haley Fournier will be the Texas Tech tandem at the third singles position.
The Texas Tech men's tennis team completes their nonconference match schedule on Sunday, March 20 against UT San Antonio. First serve against the Roadrunners begins at 3 p.m.
Expanded seating for all home tennis matches has been completed with the addition of bleacher seating above the McLeod Tennis Center baselines of the six north courts.
