AMES, Iowa - The Texas Tech women's golf team heads to the Baylor Invitational for its final tune-up prior to the Big 12 Championships as the opening two rounds begin Monday morning at the Twin Rivers Golf Club.
Tech is one of six Big 12 schools in the field as host Baylor, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Oklahoma will all be among the 18 teams vying for the tournament title. The Lady Raiders will be one of eight schools from the state of Texas participating in the event.
Led by a top-five finish from Alex Gibson, Tech finished third in last year's event as Kim Kaufman and Gabby Dominguez also posted top 15 finishes. Baylor will be looking to defend its tournament title from a year ago as the Bears finished a few strokes below conference foe Oklahoma.
The Lady Raiders are coming off a seventh place finish earlier this past week at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate held near San Francisco. Tech was in the top five on the leaderboard for most of the weekend before falling a few spots during the final round.
Dominguez recorded her second-straight top five finish as the sophomore ended the tournament in a tie for fourth overall. She has now finished in the top 20 of each of Tech's last four events.
First round action begins at 8 a.m. Monday morning with the second round beginning after a short break. Fans can keep up with all the action at www.golfstat.com.
