Two Lady Raiders Named to Academic All-Big 12

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's tennis team had Kelsy Garland and Caroline Starck named to the Academic All-Big 12 first team announced today by the conference.
Garland, who is an early childhood education major, sits at No. 3 in career singles victories with 72 and is fourth on career double wins with 77. It is her third-straight year to be named first team Academic All-Big 12.
Starck is a business major and maintains a 3.24 grade-point average. She is 25-10 in singles play on the season and 21-7 in doubles competition. It is the first Academic All-Big 12 honor for Starck.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
