
Tech Concludes Second Day at Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas - The No. 3 Red Raiders and No. 13 Lady Raiders concluded its second day at the Texas Relays with another strong performance.
"I think we had a good day," head coach Wes Kittley said. "We have a lot of people going everywhere and I think we qualified well. I'm really looking forward to tomorrow and seeing how we compete."
Kelly Closse won the women's discus `B' section with a personal best throw. Closse tossed a 171'-1" (52.17M) on her fifth throw of the competition to clinch the victory. The throw will put her into the top 20 in the NCAA.
Julian Wruck lost his first collegiate meet of the season. The sophomore's best mark of 192'-3" (58.59M) was the third-best throw of the competition. The throw was his third of the competition. Leif Arrhenius of BYU won the competition with a throw of 199'-4" (60.75M).
The hurdle crew had its second successful day at the Texas Relays. Kelsey Lloyd qualified ninth in the 100M hurdles for the final with a wind-aided 13.32. She will run tomorrow at 2:50 p.m.
The men put three into the final of the 110M hurdles with Omo Osaghae, Shane Bratwaite and Brandon Tucker. Osaghae ran the fastest time in the preliminaries with a wind-aided 13.31. Brathwaite was the eighth qualifier with a 13.74 and Tucker ran a 13.76 to qualify ninth.
The women's 4x100M relay of Erica Alexander, Terra Evans, Candace Jackson and Taylor Evans qualified for the final with a 44.53. The group was the fifth fastest in the preliminaries.
The women's 4x400M relay grabbed the last qualifying position for tomorrow's final at 4:45 p.m. The relay of Alexander, Jackson, Taylor Evans and Lloyd ran a 3:38.54.
Terra Evans qualified for the Invitational 100M final tomorrow at 3:55 p.m.
Katherine Priebe ran an 11:26.18 to place eighth in the women's 3000M steeplechase.
In his first meet of the season, Bryce Lamb couldn't find the board and fouled on his three attempts in the long jump.
The men's 4x1500M results will be posted in tomorrow's release. Tech will start the final day of the Texas Relays at 12:00 p.m. with the women's pole vault.
