LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech offensive lineman Lonnie Edwards has been named to the Outland Trophy Preseason Watch List, announced Friday by the Football Writers Association of America.
Edwards, a 6-foot-4, 322 pound lineman, will return for his senior season after being named second-team All-Big 12 last year. He has started in 23 games in his career and will lead the line at left guard. Edwards is one of seven on the watch list from the Big 12.
The Outland Trophy, presented annually since 1946, is the third oldest award in major college football. The winner of the 66th Outland Trophy, named after the late John Outland, an All-America lineman at Penn and Kansas at the turn of the century, will be announced on The Home Depot College Football Awards on Dec. 8 on ESPN.
